
JOHAN BRISINGER
DIRECTOR/WRITER/SHOWRUNNER
Johan, originally from Stockholm, Sweden, holds a Bachelor’s degree from the School of Cinematic Arts at USC in Los Angeles. Starting his career with commercial and music video direction, he has been recognized for his work in SHOTS, shortlisted in Cannes, and awarded several honors.
His short film Passing Hearts (En Del Av Mitt Hjärta) received several prestigious awards at film festivals around the world, including the Audience Award in Berlin. Johan’s directorial debut, Suddenly (Underbara Älskade), was a successful drama that won the People’s Choice Award at the Swedish Film Awards and the Audience Award at Nordic Film days in Lübeck.
He followed up with the critically acclaimed and commercially successful film AMONG US (Änglavakt), a story about faith, hope, and love, featuring Michael Nyqvist, Izabella Scorupco, and Tchéky Karyo. His third feature, I Love You – A Comedy of Divorce (Jag Älskar Dig – En skilsmässokomedi), was a modern interpretation of the classical “comedy of remarriage” sub-genre with a bittersweet touch.
Johan has also directed episodes of various TV series, including Moscow Noir (Dirigenten), Thicker Than Water (Tjockare Än Vatten), The Box, and the crime drama limited series Cell 8 by Roslund & Hellström for Viaplay.
